Hello, 2021 Ducato moho owner. Just joined as I thought what better place to find answers to common Fiat problems. However, when looking for an answer relating to a battery swap on my stop start automatic I was dismayed by the number of guessed replies. For goodnes sake if you don't know the definitive answer to a problem please don't guess. It's very easy to cause a lot of damage to expensive electronics. I know some answers will be correct and the right knowledge is out there! After all, every Fiat trained mechanic will know the answers. Don't let it get lost amid 'it looks like this and it might be that'. Cheers, the search goes on! Rogt.

Hi,
There is a specific procedure for disconnecting and reconnecting the starter battery in your vehicle.
The question has come up on this forum several times.
Best wishes
Jack

Hi Jack. Thanks for your comments. The above was not my particular question as that information is in the manual but it does not say whether you have to tell the vehicle that you have installed a new battery. My remarks were about several conflicting answers to another problem that someone else posted that if the individual had acted on the wrong answer it could prove expensive. Just a thought!

Most people’s opinions on this forum are just that, opinions. I can’t see anybody giving advice that they thought would possibly damage a vehicle. I myself never claim to be trained mechanic but have tinkered with cars for years. Most people that use this Forum do so to try and save money….but that obviously comes with an element of risk. At the end of the day if you want a risk free fix, go to the dealer and pay through the nose. I’ve used a few different car Forums, and to me the Fiat Forum is the least toxic and most helpful one I’ve come across. That’s my take on it 🙂

Fair enough. I agree and I wasn't having a dig at this forum in particular. There is so much dubious info on the web that you need to check from multiple sources and apply some common sense and care before acting.

Hi,

Thankfully a new battery does not have to be registered with any of the ecus in your vehicle.
