Whats everyones opinions on these?

My mate has a read 02 plate 1.8 vvti 140hp that he is selling, and if I can figure out a way to get the money I might just buy it off him! Nice wee cars to drive and seems to hold the road better than the Punto.

Anyone one know what can be done to the engine other than swap it which is what seems to be getting said on Celica forums?

I just cant decide cause the whole front is covered in stone chips despite it only haveing 40 odd thousand miles on it so it would need sprayed. But it does have the sport and premium pack so its got dead cow inside! :)

From what i have heard on other forums, they are great but soulless cars.

Apparently the 190bhp is brilliant but the 140 isn't that great.

love the look of them though, but i would never have a japanese car. The interiors are offensive, very cheap, plasticy, flimsy, shiny, god awfull things,

Looks like I might be getting this!

Still not entirely sure...probably just a fear of not driving the Punto! I've had it for over 7 years now!

Why don't you gat a car that has some power???

You're at that age where insurance is crazy cheap but where you've only got a few more years to own silly motors.

Celicas tend to be indestructable and generally good cars to drive, It should have pretty tight handling and the engine will like to rev although it may lack torque lower down. Interior will be shiney and black, mmm, nice but parts and servicing should be reasonable.

Over your Punto this will handle 1 000 000 times better, i went from a Punto mk1 to a Puma (based on a Fiesta) and couldnt beleive how good the Puma was, and how poor the mk1 was, to the point i started driving more sensible, or it felt it, because to get to the limits it took so much more speed and effort that a huge crash was probably going to result.

buy my hgt!! The mk2 punto is a world of difference from the mk1.

matt i would but I had money problems last year and as a result am unlikely to get credit! the arrangment I am going to have with my mate means I can become the owner of this without the need to borrow money!

I totally agree mrski1, I've done some reading and even the 140bhp version will be a step up from the Punto, all its really missing is the turbo kick that I would have liked in my new car, but hey ho, I'll get a turbo car in 9 years when I hit my midlife crisis!

And Ransoman, Thanks, but...its still only a mk2 Punto! :( I've driven a Mk2, admittedly not an HGT and i didnt like it. The Celica looks miles better than a punto anyway.

My only regret will be moving away from the Punto...and places like here and PSC.

...I'm away for a cry!

:lol::lol:

Well it does! Although I should have said a Mks 2 punto...

Looking at mine tonight, I realised I am still in love with it! It will kill me to have to see her go. I really dont want to get rid of her but needs must...I'm just doing far too many miles now for work and her mileage is far too high. I could run her into the ground I suppose, but dont want to get to the stage when its costing me an arm and a leg to keep it on the road!

What to do...what to do....I'm in a quandry....

Buy an Alfa romeo diesel. Comfortable, reliable, fast, economical, italian so you can fall inlove with it etc.

I like celica's but i can't fall inlove with a jap/eastern car. They are all just too cheap and tacky (yes, compared to a mk1 punto even)

Well you will all be pleased to know that i wont be getting the Celica! My mates fiancee decided to sell it to her dad without consulting me or my mate who considered it a done deal! Biatch1

But at the moment there is a rather pretty Lexus is200 Sport taking my fancy...
