Hello everyone,

I recently bought a fiat doblo 1.3mjet build in 2005. It passed technical inspection, drives pretty well and had no issues.

Now I tried to take it on the motorway, bad idea. I couldn’t get passed 85km/h. The throttle just went dead above 80km/h. Not making anymore revs (about 2.2k in fifth)

Now I’m aware this is a slow car but there was no mention of it having a speed limiter. It doesn’t stutter or make any weird noises. I bought a obd reader but gives a connection error even though it’s the right protocol.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Or anything I could try?

Thanks in advance!

It's an ECU setting for limiter..

Commonly found on vans here in the uk

Some Utility Companies have the ECU set to limit top speed. It may be worth checking if a ECU diagnostics company can advise or the Fiat Dealership.
I had an ex Water Board Iveco Crew cab pick up that was limited to 56Mph, the only way I could pass a lorry was on a Dual carriageway on the inside of a bend and a Fiat Ducato that raced up to 65Mph then it was like hitting a brick wall.
