Had a letter in the post last Friday from Fiat requesting that I book my car in for a control unit software upgrade, states work should take approx. 1 hour.

Contacted my local dealership to book the car in presuming it would be await\coffee job to be told they wanted the car all day as there was also a part replacement flashing up on their system - know nothing about this.

Anyone else had the letter and or work done. Car is Aug reg.

Yes. Had an e-mail then a letter a couple of weeks ago. Mine is booked in for 25th and dealer said about an hour but nothing about any parts. My intention is to wait and drink their coffee!
My car is October reg.

Yep mine was done at the same time as a minor exhaust rattle was fixed. It was done by main dealer before I had even received the letter from Fiat.

Had ours done this week software upgrade and the replacement part was the wheel brace ... Left car at dealer all day so no idea how long it actually took but an hour max ... Though have got a nice clean car inside and out.

Took my car in this morning and indeed, it did take about an hour. Dealer told me it was to do with the "radio" but as I didn't have any problems and can't see any difference I'm still none the wiser. However, at least the car is "up to date".

The update solved this fault warning for me plus one saying: Sound system unavailable. So now I got a Fiat without any fault warnings?

A couple of times the radio would switch off and not come back on, even pressing button made no difference. It would just come back on after a few minutes! I'm hoping its this that the update has sorted.

I've had my car done now and make the following observations:

1) The bug I reported with the uConnect trip Range distance not matching that of the dash trip appears to be fixed

2) IMPORTANT/SAFETY - If you have the "Easy entry" system then you should be aware that if your press the outside door handle button to lock the car doing so now WILL ENGAGE THE DEADLOCKS. This never used to be the case and to engage the deadlocks one had to use the remote with a "double" click action.

With 2) I have reported this to the dealer and they are in the process of talking to Fiat. I can not find any system settings that affect deadlock control.

Personally this is not much of an issue for me but parents should be aware that if you have kids in the car and want to nip into a shop and decide to leave the kids in the car and lock it to stop others getting in then if you have used the door handle button then the deadlocks will engage and your kids will not be able to get out in an emergency situation.

Unless there is a setting I have missed then I guess we will all be going back for another software change :)

And in real terms, if you have kids so young to deadlock them in the car, you are in effect committing a crime, reportable to social services. If they do leave them in and get them to lock the car from the inside themselves, they can unlock them if they need to.

Can you use the remote 1-press to lock without deadlocks?

With regard to the door handle button setting the deadlocks, I have had my 500X lounge since June 2015 and the button has always set the deadlocks and it states this in the manual. Personally I am quite happy with this arrangement.
Great car, no trouble.
