Technical 3.5mm Jack WITH blue and me

Hi There,

I've researched this to death but can't come up with a definitive answer.

I'd got the shiny head unit in my punto evo, looks like this:

and i'm wanting to have an aux in socket to plug my ipod into.

Now, with the car totally switched off, when just the stereo is turned on, i can cycle the "media" button, so that AUX comes up on the display. However, when the ignition is on, i get "no source available" or whatever it says. It's as if blue and me is stopping the AUX function, although it seems to be enabled.

And OTTOMH, doesn't the blue and me connector connect where the aux cable would go anyway.

Any suggestions would be great!

I have had the same problem with mine, although I use the USB port to play my iPod through but never worked out where the AUX cable is.

I wish I could, but my Evo's a 10 plate, requiring the adaptor, which is obscenely expensive.

Plus I also have music on my phone, which won't play through either USB or bluetooth, just the 3.5mm jack!

From what I can gather....

The B&M has a seperate computer unit to manage B&M, as such the USB input goes into that and it is that unit that converts the digital audio back into analogue audio which is then fed into the radio itself via the aux input.

So if you have B&M then your stuffed, you either do away with B&M or get a USB to audio adapter or use the CD changer input and fake a CD changer (no idea how) or you add a 3.5mm jack to the aux in via a little splitter for the audio signals, this may only require a few caps or resistors.
However, getting the radio to play may require the B&M to play a loooong silent track.

If I'm wrong about the separate computer then someone in the know correct me please (and tell me what this big electronic thing is in my glovebox?).

I have managed to fit an AUX into my 2010 punto evo using the factory headunit. It's a very DIY way to do it but it works okay if you want to keep the aesthetics of the car

1) Remove the headunit and look at the wiring diagram
2) There should be three terminals; AUX L, AUX R and AUX ground
3) Strip your RCA-3.5mm jack cable back at the rca plugs
4) twist together the bare ground cables on each
5) Insert wires into all corresponding aux terminals on the headunit
6) put headunit back
7) make a silent track (I used audacity to generate silence for an hour) export it and put it on a blank USB.
8) insert USB and press "media" on headunit twice and it should play
The AUX piggy backs onto the blue me system. It'll work by playing the blank track on a USB stick which will then play music over the top.
Any problems let me know. I've had a few myself but mine works flawlessly now
