Most of the 2022 and later Ducato models have a Secure Gateway Module fitted to the OBD port which only allows access by authorised Fiat dealers. If that's the case you will need an SGW Bypass to gain access.Hi, any advice on the location of the OBD port on my 22 plate Burstner 745 Ducato base please?
Many thanks
Oh dear, motorhome is in storage so I can’t check. Any ideas where I can get a SGW and are run of the mill OBD readers compatible? Most of the 2022 and later Ducato models have a Secure Gateway Module fitted to the OBD port which only allows access by authorised Fiat dealers. If it has an SGW then you can get an SGW Bypass such as this from eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134150475620 for which you disconnect the existing SGW located behind the glove box and connect this in its place. I found that some of the cheaper OBD readers weren't very reliable and finally settled on an OBDLinkEX which worked perfectly with both MultiEcuScan and AlfaOBD. Although neither of these are fully up to date and therefore unable to access all of the modules in the 2022 Ducato.Oh dear, motorhome is in storage so I can’t check. I have doubts about the validity of the chart referencing the BCM SGW which was compiled from owners reports which may or may not be accurate. I have a 72 plate Ducato and this still has the separate SGW.re-reading this
i note the bcm sgw was introduced in 71 reg year so it will be interesting if you have the by-passable version![]()
What software/ hardware do i need to read OBD2 Codes
This a much bigger question than first appears. If we limit it to what is a cost effective DIY solution to "read my Fiat and simple maintenance issues eg change the oil in my euro 6 or add a new MAF sensor" then the answer for me reduces to...www.fiatforum.com
I have an ongoing issue with the Uconnect 10 headset, no DAB at all it just doesn’t recognise the DAB function, Speaker icon with “audio system unavailable” warning light on the dash and an intermittent fault with the reverse cam. This either works perfectly or just gives a blue screen when selecting reverse very intermittent either works or doesn’t. I was wondering if the OBD system would throw up any clues before taking it to the dealership. Fiat service HQ have sort of offered a goodwill gesture towards repair if the fault lays with Fiat as the warranty is out but I have to pay upfront first then wait for a decision on or if any warranty refund. Dealer insists on an OBD check first @£120 then progress from there so I expect it will be an expensive outlay initially with no real guarantee of a refund. If it has an SGW then you can get an SGW Bypass such as this from eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134150475620 for which you disconnect the existing SGW located behind the glove box and connect this in its place. Was there a specific reason that you needed access to the system?
The problem you'll find with accessing it yourself with MultiEcuScan or AlfaOBD is that neither are fully up to date with the 2022 Ducato modules. The following scan using MultiEcuScan from my 2022 model shows that none of the entertainment modules are supported. So by the time you've purchased an SGW Bypass, the required coloured adapters, an OBD Reader and a licence for MultiEcuScan or AlfaOBD you'll have paid out at least £120 with no guarantee of success. You might have more success by posting the actual fault on here in a separate thread.I have an ongoing issue with the Uconnect 10 headset, no DAB at all it just doesn’t recognise the DAB function, Speaker icon with “audio system unavailable” warning light on the dash and an intermittent fault with the reverse cam. Many thanks again for the reply and very helpful advice I’ll retry re-posting the fault as advised. The problem you'll find with accessing it yourself with MultiEcuScan or AlfaOBD is that neither are fully up to date with the 2022 Ducato modules. I also have extreme doubts about the validity of the chart because i compiled it, but it is the only indication i have seen of when the sgw may be encountered. Its as acurate as the details provided.(in my view each date could be upto 2 years out) when was yours registered and any idea when it left factory or went/left convertors. (try c of c).I have doubts about the validity of the chart referencing the BCM SGW which was compiled from owners reports which may or may not be accurate. I'm not sure when mine left the factory, it was purchased originally as a van straight from a Fiat Dealer in late October 2022 and converted later. If you could please explain (try c of c) I'll give it a try.I also have extreme doubts about the validity of the chart because i compiled it, but it is the only indication i have seen of when the sgw may be encountered. c of c certificate of conformance. A form from the manufacturer stating what it its tests applicable etc and normally signed by a QA signatory.I'm not sure when mine left the factory, it was purchased originally as a van straight from a Fiat Dealer in late October 2022 and converted later. I've often wondered how users have determined that the SGW is in the BCM since the only way seems to be to physically search for it and it's difficult to find being bolted to the rear of the LH glovebox on a RHD vehicle which means you have to completely remove the glovebox to locate it. MultiEcuScan merely reports that the SGW module is present but not it's location.
Is there any hard evidence that later models have the SGW in the BCM?
I don't have a certificate of conformance so I'm afraid it looks like not being able to determine the build date.c of c certificate of conformance. A form from the manufacturer stating what it its tests applicable etc and normally signed by a QA signatory.
Hard evidence of sgw , typicaly part number changes. eg march 2019 new glovebox part numer to fit sgw applied in France ,noit applied to uk untill sept 19 with 2.3 adblu
