Hey guys,

Everywhere I look online I find that the correct tyres for my car are 195/55/r15
Currently I have 185's all round?

Is this an Issue? Also if Im changing just the front tyres, if I get 195's will it matter?

Thanks

Darren

185/195 etc refers to the width of the tyres.
The answer to your question really lies in what rims you have fitted.

195 would relate to the original rims fitted to the car. Have they been changed?

looked in the big bad manual :)

apparently 195/60's are the standard size.
I guess who ever had the car before me thought 185's were cheaper.
Also every garage ive been to since has just put whatever was on it before.

If I get 195/60's for the front and change the front to the back as they have more tread (strange I know), I shoudln't have a problem should I?
195/60 front, 185/55's rear?

thanks

Darren

Like I said, it depends on what size the rims are.

As above really ^^

I changed from standard fit 195/60 to good quality comfort-bias 185/65 on my old Marea on purpose - not because the 185's were cheaper, (they wer'nt) but because a 185 suited the 6" wide FIAT wheels better than 195's did.

The deeper '65' profile on those was chosen to raise the overall gearing a fraction and help improve ride comfort.

My other 'summer' rims were wider, (7") and so I had 205/50's on those, in a sportier, more aggressive style of tyre.

Each to their own - If your standard FIAT alloys are 6" wide, (most are) then any tyre width from 175 upto 205 is within a normal enough range.

great :)

so no damage or safety compromised with the sizes, that's all I needed to know really.

Need some new tyres and wanted to check I was getting the right ones

Cheers guys

Darren

Cool. Obviously, make sure you have the same size of tyre on both sides of each 'axle' - but no problem having slightly different sizes front and rear.

Also check that all the tyres speed rating is adaquate for the car, ('H' is good for upto 130 MPH, so covers all Brava/o Marea IIRC)
