1.9JTD 8v vs 16v turbo

The 8v uses the GT1749V and the 16v uses the GT1749MV.
Does anyone know what the difference is?
I'm looking to get 160-180hp from the 8v in my 2003 Strada. I have 115hp injectors, big front mount intercooler and I'm looking at a 16v turbo but they appear to be almost the same as the 115hp 8v turbo.

I dont know specifically but engine speeds from diesel to petrol will be different and comression so exhaust gas speed may be different too. Its possible the driving impleller blades have a different set angle. Port sizes may also be different. Your best best is surely to email a turbo specialist and ask for some general advice to ge t more power and ask what tubo(s) they recommend. Im sure they will explain the differences and what you need to get the desired power. Then go turbo hunting afterwards.

Silly me. I cant see there is going to be a vast difference then. Asking a turb supplier repairer would still be my suggestion. A refurb and upgrade might be possible giving a great result at a sensible cost.
