Hello all,
I have a 2002 1.9 JTD Multi.
It was originally registered in the UK, now it is in New Zealand.
Its leaking diesel fuel (at least I'm 98% certain that it is fuel).
Once it gets going, its leaking at about one drop every 5 seconds, so its quite a lot.
It looks like its dripping off the block behind the crank pulley and a bit from the oil drain plug, but of course there is nothing fuel related around there.
I've studied eLearn and the pictures on eper, and I've traced each (fuel) pipe that I can find, between the filter, pump, common rail etc.
All dry as a bone.
I changed the cambelt myself about 3 months / 3000km ago.
I've taken the cambelt cover off and its all dry in there.

Any thoughts?

Can the pump itself leak (other than from where the pipes connect)? (330 000km)
All the fuel related stuff seems to be at the back of the engine where it is really hard to get to.
I assume that something is leaking where I can't see and running down the back of the block and the places I see it dripping from are just the lowest or at the end of a pathway.

The high pressure pipes can't be leaking, they are 3mm wall thickness or something.

What do you think is the most likely thing to be leaking fuel?

Tomorrow I'm going to try again to lie under the car and look up the back of the engine.
Its cold and dark, so its hard to be deligent.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Cheers
Geoff.

Check the returns from the injectors.
Quite a few miles, although I had a 05 with 220k miles.
High pressure pipes and injectors can leak, although if any more than a small amount it would be hard to start if at all.
Sometimes injector pump seals can start to fail.
All you can do is narrow it down as much as possible, I have even used a cheap endoscope camera in the past.
