Technical  Interface to Fiat Examiner!

Technical  Interface to Fiat Examiner!

It's always a gamble but in the advert it's an OBS2 16 pin socket and it says Fiat so it looks good. Most sellers will do a refund if it doesn't work. Make sure you get cables to suit your laptop input i.e. usb or serial port

Will interface work? Yes, Most likely
Will examiner work? No
With two cables? You may get away with one as the interface is in the socket by the looks of it. Can't tell from the ad

Tell them what you have and they will probably help

Thanks, but it's OK with interfaces: Something like at the begening of this thread.
But, what about examiner hardware? Isn't it normal PC? Do I need something (hardware) between PC & Interface ??

You need something a bit like this
But not necessarily this one. Can't guarantee any of them will work until you try them but it actually states Fiat Stilo so you're in with a chance:)

would be nice to know if that stuff works for real though, although it lists a lot of cars and functionality i doubt it supports that on all of them

Forget the mileage correction progams, that's not going to work on a Stilo. Niether is it going to put service light or airbag lights out, but there's a load of diagnostic software programs that are free to download that work well with the Stilo and they're getting better and able to read more all the time. So it's just a case of getting an interface that connects to your laptop and works, then you're away.

So, for what I understand, by no means we can use Fiat Examiner software in home with the software + cables + interface?

If correct was is missing in that "equation" so it works?
And how can the errors, like airbag light could be put off, not going to official fiat mechanic?

If you contact the people who make examiner (Actia I think) they will probably supply you with examiner, CDs and interfaces but it will cost you plenty.

If you're thinking of running some old examiner software through your pc then forget it

To turn the airbag light off you need to fix what is wrong, then it will turn itself off unlike the Bravos where it would lock on until turned off by examiner

Well, I appreciate all the help give to me, especially to Deckchair5.

In all posts regarding examiner some say it can be done some say it can’t be done. In Punto subforum I put the same question, the link is:

https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-technical/80667-fiat-examiner-interface.html

and Punto.Power says yes it works. Also from a PM I receive:

“Ye that is the one I have and it works fine. It comes wit a USB cable so just plug it into a normal laptop.

Don't expect to do a whole lot wit it. it only reads, clears fault codes and gives u some graphs and real time readings.

The software that comes wit it is ****. but there are links to better software downloads on the disk.

OBD-II Scanmaster is the best one I find. It is pictured on that e bay page next to the scantool.net one.”

To what I understand from your intervention in this post: https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo-techn...iner+interface

You buy a interface from ebay.de like this one:

http://cgi.ebay.de/OBD-USB-Interface...photoho sting

And can you use it with your pc + fiat examiner + obd 2 cables?

Tiago Roldao"

So in conclusion I don’t know for sure if it does work or no.

I have a Punto JTD from 2000, I don’t know if it makes a difference or no?

You can run it
examiner 1.JPG

Here it is, but you can't do much with it without the proper examiner hardware and interfaces. It was designed to be operated with your fist or forehead in the days when mechanics met you in a string vest with a fag and a greasy rag. Times have moved on and now the technician meets you with a PDA and a pina collada:)

There's loads of software available, most of it free, like this
diagnostics.JPG
that will read off fault codes and give a virtual dashboard of engine inputs, just with the correct interface cable, if that's all you're after

Hello,

Can I erase the errors with the examiner? In my case, the airbag light? And is there any software that could erase them?

Best Regards,

sforma

Rroope "can you access all the menus on the examiner software "
Yes. You can get it to run visually, just, but it takes a bit of playing about as it's a DOS based program and needs shutting down with a Ctrl Alt Del but otherwise all the menus are available.
For input/ output though it is looking for the proper examiner interface which has further controls in the interface so that part (the most important part) doesn't work

"Can I erase the errors with the examiner?"
No, you can't do anything with this version of Examiner PLus but there's loads of free software on the net that will check and erase fault codes

"In my case, the airbag light?"
No. You need to fix what is wrong and the light will reset itself on the Stilo

Yes, once you have an interface then there are loads of free software packages available on the net if you just want to read fault codes. There are also fault code readers available on ebay but don't ask me which one works for you as they are constantly updating interfaces and software
