Please see original thread :- " Yet another keycode problem please help "

I have now discovered that the original owner must have changed the instrument cluster for a diesel one. I replaced this with a petrol one , and now the fuel gauge and speedometer work fine.:) However I now have no front indicators and front headlights, and that blasted keycode amber warning light is still on, on the instrument cluster. :(So I still cant start the car either. :bang:I have checked all the fuses and they all seem fine. I have read about a plastic ring around the ignition that can go wrong, regarding the keycode fault, but cant see how to get it off to replace it, but, I also still cant understand why the code would have been lost anyway. All help would be appreciated.

Thanks AJ.

Yippeeeeeee, :D:D I have now got a working car with no hazard lights up. What a relief, I thought I was going mad.
After another 4 hrs toil trying various things, I finally discovered that by removing the battery, then removing each of the big plastic strapped wiring loom connectors from the back of the computer panel ( IE where the fuse board near the drivers knee is ), and then reconnecting them, and then reconnecting the battery, I found that I could start the car and keycode light went out and lights and indicators and speedo and fuel gauge all worked....amazing...
I have no idea as to whether the on board computer reset itself, or whether one of the connectors wasnt quite seated correctly, but i dont really care. i'm up and running and thats all that matters.
I hope this saga will help others,
regards Rob(y)
