Technical Punto stuttering on light throttle

Ok, let me know how you get on. My maf or egr does not show any reading, it just says they are not active.thanks

MAF disconected did not show symptoms, just gave it a nice clean with carb cleaned and reinstalled it, so far the problem didn't return.. i got a feeling it's the temperature sensor since it integrated into the MAF.. got loads of black gunk when i sprayed carb cleaner into it :p

I have tried to clean mt maf but made no difference, let me know if the problem keeps cured.I am considering a new clutch now as someone before mentioned that weak springs in the pressure plate can cause this resonance. Also when it starts to chug if you apply slight pressure to the clutch pedal it stop it.When it does chug there does not seem to be any engine rev fluctuation which could point to a drive problem only. thanks

Pretty sure I’ve cured the Punto:slayer::slayer:

Used 1 litre of this stuff: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LIQUI-MOLY-diesel-complete-system-cleaner-purge-1-LITRE_W0QQitemZ290310955735QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item290310955735&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Moly Lube Diesel Purge.

Following the instructions on this site:

http://www.dieselgiant.com/mercedes_diesel_maintenance_tips.htm

I.E. you don’t just pour it in the diesel tank. You need to disconnect the supply and return fuel lines and inset them in to the Moly Lube can so that it actually runs on pure Moly Lube. Takes maybe 45 mins to use 1 litre.

It’s easy enough but if you want more info. Let me know.

Done my other 2 diesels and they all now fly:):) plus smoother running.

I actually haven't solved my problem yet but already know how to duplicate it at will..

If the car is very low on fuel (almost when the low fuel light comes on) it will drive flawless, anything over a quarter tank and the problem returns, from experience the more fuel in the tank the worse it gets..

I'm thinking it's either the breather on the tank that's clogged or something is wrong with the intank fuel pump.. I haven't had the time to diagnose further though..

Finally solved my problem, the symptoms are a kind of surging engine(car jerks, feels like repeatedly hitting the brakes) when driving at constant low RPM (1100-2000) in any gear, it will have a stable idle and normal accelerations. Mine was most noticeable in 4th gear at 50-60km/h and 5th gear at 70km/h at times become virtually undriveable until either accelerating or changing down a gear..

The cure was actually simple, the fuel tank vent :p after removing the one-way valve and giving it a clean, gave a good blast of air through the hose, bolted everything back up.. It's been almost 600km since i did it and the problem did not return (y)

Where is the fuel tank vent and what does it look like? My diesel punto does this stuttering thing occasionally and the vent theory sounds like a good place to start!

Cheers,

Rich
