My car is a Punto mk2 1.2 8v '99

When it stands out over night and it has rained a lot i have a problem with water coming in.

I turn the wheel and drive out of the parking lot - at that first turn/move there comes a little splash of water from under the right side on the dashboard - at that point the carpet is clipset to.

And today it came from the plastic right side of the front window. a little splash only 10 drops or something.

I have checked the sound isolation under the carpet - its all dry and so is the area around.
The sump up front at the wipers is completely dry as so.

I have attached some pictures - maybe it will help.

Can someome help me with how i'll figure out this problem?

Check the scuttle drains,
They're located where the wiper mech lives, on all the punto's I've had these have been blocked with leaves and other ming.

perusing your photos you seem to have rot in the scuttle so its possible you also have rot in the windscreen surround and the bonding has parted allowing water ingress
the technical way to locate the leak is carpets out talcom powder down mate with high powered wash lance
or get on your back under dash while mate uses hose pipe

water leaks can be really difficult to find even the new ka had one on a bulkhead seam necessitating dash removal to fix it

I dont think a mate would find it. When i drive in heavy rain there is no problem. The problem is when the car stand still in rain for couple or hours or night over it gives me a little splash of water in the first move.

About the rot, can you help me saying where you mean? maybe draw it in a pic and upload?

theres corrosion below the window if you blow the picture up
its possible you have water collecting somewher and dribbling down whilst car stood
a bit like water pumps usually only leak when car stood if you understand me

cant do photos its not my computer sorry

so is it a serious situation with the problem or can i do some minor repair?

Btw. i have some problems with rust in top of the car at the corner at the windows in the first picture - maybe that is related to the problem?

Other thing to check is that the scuttle drains -- I think the Mk2s still have them -- are clear.

the mk2b's have scuttle pannel drains too!

often collecting gunk :yuck::yuck:

Scuttle panel drain? you can see it is all dry in the pic

But I can't see the bottom.

Dreadful rot in there.

The plastic scuttle panel is missing. Was it removed for these pictures?
That will increase chances of blocked drains
