Following on from the Abarth badges that were recently fitted, I have had some custom side/rear stripes made and repainted the mirrors and brake calipers.

I was wondering what colour scheme to go with and I toyed with the idea of green/white/red but that has already been done. Plain white stripes would look good against Electroclash Grey but then what colour should the mirrors and calipers be? In the end, the Abarth shields decided it as the red is metallic and the yellow is more of a gold.

The inspiration for the stripes came from the Fiat 500 - I also wanted something that ended in a chequer design. Mirrors were resprayed in a Mitsubishi colour and the calipers were painted in gold Smoothrite.

As ever, I would say that the photos do not do the colours justice. In the sunshine, the effect is very good and the new look has already received several compliments. It's different and relatively subtle - exactly what I was after

Thanks for looking! :)

Not sure about the mirrors, but the rest looks good.

I guess you need to do something to brighten up a grey car. It would have been easier to buy a red car in the first place though, they're faster you know :D

All comments are welcome, be they positive or negative - so thank you all :)

The mirrors do look dark until the sun gets on them and brings out the metallic in the paint. For the first couple of days, I thought I'd made a mistake but I'm now sure that I did the right thing.

As for the stripes, I liked them straight away. Adding something bold will always be a risk, but for me, they work. The graphics guy I used said that a neighbour came out and commented on how good they looked while he was still doing the car.

Ultimately, there is a theme of metallic red and gold that ties in with the Abarth shields.

Trefor - Red is always faster! :p

Looking good!

Not sure about the stripe but the mirrors look very nice in that colour better than the normal solid red with the grey.

Looking good dude, makes it your own :)

Few bits though, only my opinion or course, i'd lose the decals on the tailgate and get some later (red) grille, tailgate and wheel centre badges, you've got too many different colours on the go for my liking now, also gold calipers could be a touch.

Whats the deal with your tyres? are those 195/50's?! just look odd for some reason :)

Shameless photo whoring....

Thanks - you know that I like your car, so I value your input :)

Red Fiat badges could work and I am giving it some thought. For me, I will always associate Fiat's badge with blue, so it's a difficult decision.

Yes, the tyres are 195/50s - a better ride and more protection from kerbing by my more-ambitious students.

I would like to go for Italian-style plates, but given my profession, it's probably not worth the risk/negative image/"You should know better"

Just waiting for the FF stickers to arrive now.

i like the mirrors and the badges but im not sure about the cheq decals.

new york taxi sprung to mind when i first looked

Before I say this, note, I've already said I like it! (y) Suits your Panda very much. I actually like the cheqs as it fits very nicely around the styling of the Pandas curves.

Frankly though, if you like it, who really cares what anyone else thinks?

I'd be more worried about those learners, lol. :D

Be oh so boring if we all drove around in the same looking car. Not to mention rather tricky to figure out which one was yours in a parking lot. :p

As I said before, positive and negative reactions are welcome. Modifying a 100HP to be different is relatively pointless, given its relative rarity. However, those who have seen it in the flesh have only been complimentary, which means that they either like it or just don't want to hurt my feelings! :)

As for my students, when they are driving down narrow country lanes, I do wince a little more now! ;)
