I've finished modding the sump guard for the 'Rat. It was pretty easy really, just requiring an angle grinder, big hammer and a drill.

I started by cutting off the rear mounting points as there was nowhere to fix them to the 'Rat chassis.

I then hammered the cut ends of the guard flat for a length of approx 3 or 4 inches. Then I fitted it again to see where I'd need to drill the holes to fasten it to the bottom of the bottom suspension mount.

With it bolted in place at the front it was easy then to drill straight through the guard and bottom suspension mount at the same time to get the holes in the right place.

Here it is finally fitted:

And here it is modded just before final fit:

This is all I'm doing with it this trip but it'll be coming back off to be stripped and painted next time I'm up here. I'm also going to add ally plate to the flat cross bars to fill the rectangular enclosed area.

Les, feel free to copy me to fit yours to the Torino. Let me know if you come up with a better idea.

Looks pretty easy. I might be modding the rear suspension mounts for more clearance (I know, I'm obsessed) so I may have to do something different.

If you are filling in the gaps you probably want the plate to go right to the front to form a sort of ramp. If you just have a flat plate at the bottom it will act as a scoop and fill up with mud.
