Technical Vacuum in petrol tank

well quick up date i found a much newer purge canister and valve on a written off multi good old scrappy's ehh ,with this fitted when the car is run and the throttle manually actuated under the bonnet the newer valve can be felt to pulse, the old one made a noise when actuated with multiecuscan but you couldn't feel it pulse so I'm assuming it was stuck open and more importantly the newer one is not leaking vacuum.

the upshot of this is two things ... the idle is much smoother and the excessive vacuum in the tank has gone .. yes there's still a small vacuum but its a hell of a lot less than before and the many seconds of sucking and gurgling noises when the fuel cap is removed are gone and its no longer causing the any idling problems after a run.

Do you think it's these purge canisters that make our Multis 'moo'?

Mine often does it a few seconds after I get out of the car.

could be .. mine never 'moo-ed' though just sucked and gurgled :p

I was looking at fitting a brand new nissan purge valve and tank to the multi as the valves are cheap new and are remote from the tank making for an easy mod....but found the second hand fiat tank and valve even cheaper.
