well since we have went ALOT off topic in the torfo thread,
there looks like a bit of a arguement going on ,

What mods can be done to get to to magic 100 bhp Like clamied , on the 1108 , and how much easier it doing it on the 1242 to get the 100 bhp figure like Said

Ive made this topic To try and make the outher topic back on topic :)

On a 1108cc...
280 degrees or higher camshaft, adjustable pully, 4-2-1 or 4-1 decatted bigger bore exhaust, maximum skimmed cylinder head, old school couble carburettor or throttle bodies.

Of course with the last option one would need programmable engine management too.

And for the driving fun...lightened and balanced flywheel:D

ive just fitted (today lol) a high spec 1108 8v unit
1108 block with non FIRE crank(we are unsure of origins but most likely a race item.revs to 7k + easy built by MA engineering
fully skimmed head well beyond markers
spresso race head gasket running high compression
lightned flywheel (4.7kg),we had to re drill holes to fit race crank
fully gasflowed/ported and polished cyl head
3 angle valve seats
columbo and bariani 280s 10.3mm max road cam
fully gasflowed and port matched inlet manifold
40mm tricker throttle body
high flow injector(vauxhall astra spi with matching fuelpump/injector relay
stainless 421 exhaust manifold, decat and full stainless janspeed system
carbon mbc cda induction kit
magnacor kv85 leads and bosch super 4 plugs
crich ecu box and also have gazza ecu box to try
rolling road session coming very soon but must be close to 90 /95bhp at least
hope this gives u some idea what u need to do mate

i agree with rallycinq
with this setup ive less low down power that i had in my 1242 setup but with the cam i have it comes in at about 4.5k/5k revs
it flies after this.
the 1242 with 866 cam was a lot more town friendly but had nothing top end,my engine wants to rev into oblivion lol

yeah i would have gone 16v but it wouldnt have look right with what im building

The problem is that 100bhp or thereabouts from an 1108, or even a 1242 impacts heavily on driveability.

Power is a function of revs, so its no use for road driving at all.

Cheers

D

^^ This, as an N/a there is no use having a screamer as a road car as low down you will have limited torque.

And I think a few of you would be very surprised how easy it is with a decent engine build. Although thats 100bhp at the crank, 100bhp at the wheels is a different story.
