Been fiddling with my Cinq today. Amongst other things I was changing the speakers as I thought the left speaker had blown. It turns out it hadn't so the crappy radio cassette unit is obviously at fault. This isn't a problem as I want to swap in my CD head unit from the Uno. However, as it was getting dark and cold I thought I'd leave it to another day.

My question is though - does the Cinq stereo wiring come with an ISO connector as standard? Will it connect straight up to a CD radio headunit or am I going to have to fit in a different connector?

Just hoping for a quick job and the chance to hear my CD's again!

mine came with the connector already for the Sony unit i put in, and was exactly the same as the one I bought from halfords :p (which i didnt need obviously......)

Cheers for that! A bit of a relief as I didn't want to go cutting into any more wires (y) I take it that the Cinq ISO is only set up for two speakers though? If I want to add a rear pair can they be incorporated into the current ISO plug?

You will have to fit a new iso for rear speakers.

OK, so I managed to fit my CD head unit into the Cinq Soleil today (y)

I think Liam might be right in that the Cinq does NOT come with an ISO connector as standard. This is the connector that was in the Cinq wiring loom:

Now this had an adaptor harness fitted. Whether this came from the factory like this I don't know but it was already fitted to the connector above so the crappy radio cassette that came with the car could be fitted. The good news is that there's an extra plug for the rear speakers so when/ if I get round to fitting some then the wiring from the stereo is already there (y)

This is the adaptor harness connected to the head unit:

And this is the CD head unit installed into the dash. You can see that the dash is cracked in one corner - this was like that when I bought the car :( However, the CD head unit works fine and I can play CD's in my car again :slayer:

One last thing though. I changed the orginal speakers for a set that I had lying around as they could handle more power. Only problem is that the Fiat speaker grills won't fit and neither will the grills that came with the aftermarket speakers. Is there any way round this? Or do I have to keep the speakers exposed?

Anyway, nice to get some decent sounds in my Cinq at last :)

Not quite sure what you've done there Jamie? Did you cut a hole in the original Fiat speaker cover? My problem is that they won't fit over the edge of the speakers as there's too much metal compared with the Fiat items. Bit of an awkward design, so unless I want to cut bits of the speaker frame off I'll have to live with it :bang:

That wasn't mine is Aarons.. yeah basically cut around the original with a stanley...

Ah righty that doesn't help then

Cheers anyway! (y)

Its the outer frame of the speakers that causes the problems. The edge of the covers won't fit over them. I might try and attack them with some tin snips to shave some metal off but that will have to wait until after Xmas. I'll just enjoy playing CD's and having a bit of extra volume for now :)

Out of the 6 or so I have owned, ive yet to find a cinq that hasnt come with an ISO connector. May just have been the earlier models that didnt. None of my cinqs have had the wiring you have shown Chas. They have all been ISO blocks straight on to the original loom.

Weird! Mine is a '96 model so not really one of the early Cinqs. Still, at least I have the ISO adaptor and the connections to fit extra rear speakers (y)

Look lads, the Cinq's don't come with ISO adaptors as standard, they only come with the ****ey Philips Tape affair which leads many to replace and in doing so they need the adaptor so it's not too much to accept that 2nd hand Cinqs will be ISO ready.

Liam
