Hi i've been told my ecu is knackered after alot of problems with the car.
What basically do i need for a ecu swap, how do i get the barrel out of ignition, and could some one tell me the location of the codebox on a 1997/98 fiat bravo 1.6 16 sx please.

I was also told by a scrappy that it may be possible to just change the ecu with one of the same match, but i would have thought it would still need reprogrammed, plus i'm looking at the cheapest option.

The ecu is a magneti marelli IAW 1AF.16

Greatful for any help please it's urgent.

To remove barrel:-
undo steering column surround screws and cover.
turn ignition to on (MAR)
Depress pawl inside cover, withdraw barrel, it can be sticky, maybe help with a screwdirver next to pawl.

Immobiliser:-
Remove screws and fuses cover under o/s dash.
The immo is located at the very top of the fusebox, its attached to a gold coloured bracket.
Undo the 10mm bolt and remove plugs and immo assy.
Alternatively you can reach up above the clutch pedal and undo the box itself from the plate.
You need to change ecu and immo and keys
Tony.

Hi managed to get it out.It was stiff and took time and fiddling but got there in the end thanx again.

By the way do you know how to get that plate thing off to get at the boot lock on a brava i tryed to loosen the three 3 screws holding it on but it would'nt budge.
