Fuel gauge now sticks at around 1/4, and the low warning light doesn't come on.

Where is the sender unit and how to remove it?

(To fix before herself runs out of fuel on a dark rainy night somewhere...)

Its inside the petrol tank behind the drivers seat. You need to remove the floor trim in the hood bay so you can open the small hatch to the fuel tank bay. Once open you can pull out the fuel pump / filter (99 on)/ sender unit.

This job can be done in a single day. (y)

 fuel filter is in the tank!! ? now that's a new one

I have a new filter sat here it's on my list of jobs to do... wondered where it was fitted but never got round to r.t.f.m... didn't realise it meant tank access:confused:

Thanks.

Did the sticking passenger window today. easy job, only had to pop the bottom studs off the door trim and move the plastic seal out the way..10 min job. Working window!

B is another car that needs 'hands dirty' every weekend or so to keep it running right..Jeez! Thought I's finished with that when I sold the Coupe!

I found a picture of the fuel pump in the tank.

Thanks Doc, took a look under the car this aft, looks like mine is the later 99. found delivery and return lines but no sign of a filter. Ouch hope the pump doesnt quit... looks expensive

Not sure what year your car is doc, need a free fuel filter for your troubles? I'd hate to just throw it in the bin.

Thanks m8 but mine does not have one being a late 99. Funny you offer as LRB came over mine a while back and I had picked one up before finding out I dont need one to so I gave it to LRB.
HEEH (y):D

Would settle for a Fiat Forum thanks Desert Rat.

Don't throw it in the bin - I'll take it off ya hands!!

Mid-99 there were a few changes to the cars fuel system, early ones had an in-line fuel filter underneath the car behind the passenger seat floor space but before the wheel arch, also had an external airflow meter etc.........bear this in mind if you are ordering parts! The very last of the mk1's also had even more differences like a different manifold...............

Gee doc... even after looking at your pic, searching the forum I was still scratchin my head wondering how to do the thanks thing... had seen it on peoples profiles... then something clicked, Duh!! :worship:

Ok LRB it's yours, will put the filter in your parcel. I ordered it back in July when I bought the B but never got around to trying to fitting it, came from the same place that sent me the wrong cam belt... figures!! :bang:
