Styling Matt Black

In my opinion it looks like someone shot it with a spray can, something I would have done when I was 16 and didn't have enough money to get a proper paint job. I will never understand matte black on a car.

Saw one back in Dec '10. It was al-right I suppose.

I love them and nearly bought one.

I quite like the Matt Black. Compared with an Audi RS5 that I saw recently I thought the 500 can carry it well. IMHO I think it suits the TA engine giving it a lot of 'character'.

Checking out how to clean you Matt Black there are products that can be bought but they're not cheap (Click here).

Comparing prices of the 'limited edition' Matt Black it's around £1,300 extra & compares favourably with the manufacturers like Audi at £1,600. Secondhand they appear to be good value.

Not too sure about the wrapping the car to get the same effect but one guy managed to do it himself - to do it right it appears that you have to take bumpers off, lights, etc.

It would interesting to hear a recommendation as to what is the best valued product if one was going to do it oneself.

There are insurance implications in doing it but the DVLA does not need to be informed.

As a kid I remember some cars having Matt black bonnets but I can't remember on which cars. Here is a bit of history on the Matte Black (Click here).
