Has anybody out there found this bit of kit lurkiing under the bonnet? Located over the main battery I believe that it controls the cooling fans but cannot be certain.

I have tried the net, Fiat themselves and Bitron in Italy to find a replacement but no luck. Am I alone with this problem. Maybe it's an alien tracking device or a CIA bugging system of some sort:bang:

Yes I have the same problem with alien box called bitron video 2044029. On random occations this control box makes click noise and doesn't allow the car to start. Then the ignitor(preheater) light flashes on and off. Until now I have managed to get the car started in the end, but now after 6 hours of trying I just wrestled the damn thing out of the car, waist deep in snow, freesing my butt off and cursing. I found in Finland for 68 euros, this bitron video 2044029 out of an Iveco on this link :http://http://www.fusti.fi/osahaku/osan_tiedot.php?id=272343&oid=18
Hope this helps.

Thank you Maris, this is the closest I have come to finding a replacement. I found the website but I do not know any Finish ( ich spreche gutt Deutsch und ein bischen Francais) so I will look for a Finlander here in Ireland to help me. Thank you again, by the way you should enjoy the snow - here we have only rain so no ski or lang laufen !!

does it look like this?

No Dave, it is grey and about 10cm by 4cm with a round plug connection underneath. You have prompted me to take a photo and place the alien thing on this website for humans to see it!! Thanks for your help.

I believe the Bitron Video 2044029 is the glow plug control unit which assists in cold starting of the diesel engine.
I have a problem at this time with my motorhome Ducato 2500TD cold start.
When I switch on my ignition the orange glow plug dashboard light shows for a split second. I believe the control unit then senses the engine temperature and decides on how long to give power to the glow plugs for the cold start.
If the ambient temperature is below freezing the orange light shows for a few seconds.
If you have a cold start problem it could be the control unit and/or the glow plug/plugs which are at fault.
I still have not solved my cold start problem and the way things are going I fear I may run out of winter before I do!

Hi All

Mine is a Ducato 2500TD with a faulty unit. Searched everywhere for this but nine around ? If anyone knows where to source, or has a wiring diagram, be much appreciated
